Maybe you've seen a few of the reels and shorts on the different Flip Flop Spanish media channels lately! The main message is: "It's not just about Spanish."
Not only are you practicing visual, audial and tactile memory skills, and waking up a portion of your brain that remain dormant without communicating in a second language, but you're participating in actual therapy!
Wherever your memory skills lie - excellent memory skills or less than optimal memory - learning a second language will improve that skill. The method of See it and Say it increases that process exponentially because the photo cues and white back ground, the audio (relaxed, human, female voice), and the physical movement of touching, moving and flipping over the physical card, nothing on a screen is scientifically proven to more effectively and efficiently log the information into your language portion of the brain.
Why? Because the method mimics how you absorbed your first language. You were eager to communicate, and the process was natural. See an item, hear a relaxed, human, often female voice, and then reach out to touch the item that is the topic of the conversation. The brain is truly already accustomed to this method of absorption.
Beyond that, because there's no reading involved, the decoding has nothing to do with letters, and simply revolves around communication in the raw sense. Both visual and audial cues are in use, eagerness to please, competition, and laughter!
With all this visual and audial input, there's also a complete lack of translating. NONE of the base (native) language is getting used. The strengthening synapses are now using a NEW communication system, thus, the brain is stimulated to remember, exercise short term memory, decoding, hand-eye coordination, communication, and speed.
When you can't fail, because no one expects you to know this new bit of information, fears dissolve, and success is on the horizon!
From dyslexia to speech delays, visual processing disorders, and executive functioning disruptions, you'll notice the extensive reach, the true therapy of using See it and Say it as a Spanish lesson affect so very much more than just speaking Spanish.
